Illeana was uniusual due to the fact that it moved west to east, compared to most Pacific hurricanes, which move in the opposite direction. It formed as Tropical Depression 01C, but wasn't named until it moved into the eastern Pacific region, coming under the NHC's responsibility in Miami Florida.
