After the Barraki attempted to overthrow Mata Nui, Kalmah and his fellow warlords were banished to the Pit by Botar. Kalmah underwent horrific mutations during his imprisonment in the mutagenic water. When he escaped the pit, he had grown tentacle-like appendages and an extra eye on his forehead.
