The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 was first unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. It was made available in May 2012. The 2013 model of the Ford Shelby GT500 features various improvements over the previous 2010 model. These improvements include a set of HID headlights, new LED tail lights, a removed front grill for increased cooling, twin fuel pumps, larger fuel injectors, a Tremec 6060 six-speed gearbox and a single-piece carbon fibre drive shaft.
