Spatial data is data related to a place in the 3 dimensional space and therefore should have an X, Y and Z coordinate (or any other way of referencing to the 3 dimensional space). Spatial objects can be anything from places, lines or areas on a map (like towns, rail roads, countries), to items above or under the surface (like the bottom of a hole or the position of an aeroplane).
