A domed city was a city that was covered with a large dome to allow individuals to live on a planet that did not have an atmosphere of its own. As of 2155, the planet Mars had several domed cities. That year, Nathan Samuels warned Jonathan Archer that if Mars' verteron arrays were disrupted, fourteen comets directed toward the planet's ice caps for a planned terraforming project could hit anywhere, even the domed cities.
