The Waiter worked at Nick's Bistro and was on duty the night that Norris Cole, Emily Bishop and Dennis and Rita Tanner went for a meal to celebrate Norris's acquisition of 3 Coronation Street from Emily. Norris had had to be pushed into going for the meal by Rita and similarly the three had fun getting the penny-pinching man wound up by choosing expensive items from the menu. They chose two bottles of Pouilly-Fumé wine and Rita considered having the lobster from the food menu. Even the thought of sparkling water rather than tap made Norris twitch and he sarcastically enquired if there was a charge for the slice of lemon in it.
