Bubalus is a genus of bovines in the Artiodactyla Order, whose English name is buffalo. Some zoologists split the Water Buffalo into two or three species, the Domestic Asian Water Buffalo, the Philippines Carabao and the Wild Asian Water Buffalo (Bubalus arnee), a rare endangered species which is the domestic buffalo's ancestor.
