Klaus Herzog is an East German Intelligence Field Agent, considered the fifth highest in the agency. His father was killed by the Nazi's in 1939, and was recruited for the intelligence operations in 1958, and while serving in post-Revolution Cuba in 1961 he fell in love with a nightclub singer, Elena Obregon, and her daughter, Gina, and wanted to marry Elena, she accepted, but during a performance that night a romantic rival, Cuban Revolutionary Soldier Orrestes Pedrosa, decided "if he couldn't have her, no one would" and shot Elena dead on stage, then fled. Klaus, horrified of his love's death, vowed to avenge Elena's death and to find Pedrosa again. Pedrosa fled to the US in 1980 and set up a drug operation disguised as an import/export business.
