Fanon is a slang term that is an abbreviated form of fan-canon. It is basically "flavor" material created by fans. The theories of the fanon are usually commonly accepted by all fans as an enhancement to the canon, which is what distinguishes it from fanfiction (wherein the author can contradict both canon and fanon alike).
