Like the classic RG550, this reissue has a basswood body. It also features a maple and walnut Super Wizard neck with 24-fret maple fingerboard and dot inlays. The body-neck connection is with a traditional bolt on joint with a metal plate, although in this case the plate is tilted to allow easier access to the upper frets. Components include the Edge double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut, Gotoh tuners and Ibanez pickups in an HSH configuration. 2013 also saw the release of the RG550XH which is a 30-fret take on the classic design.
