The M38 Railgun is a 158mm magnetic accelerator cannon. Trinity Weaponry was experimenting with the 155mm rail guns of previous types. A flaw discovered in the older models led to their discontinuation of service and the ceasing of manufacturing. To replace this, a new 158mm rail gun was designed.
