William Crutcher Lee (October 21, 1909 - June 15 1977) was a Major League Baseball player from 1934 to 1947 for the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, and Boston Braves. Lee was a pitcher and had his best year in 1938 when he helped lead the Cubs to the World Series with a record of 22-9 and 2.66 ERA. His career marks were 169 wins, 157 loses and a 3.54 ERA. Lee hurled 4 consecutive shutouts down the stretch in 1938 (to tie NL record which stood until 1968) to help the Cubs overcome a 7 1/2 game lead by the Pittsburgh Pirates to win the NL pennant.
