Secretary of Exploration was the government title for a Federation official. In the mid-24th century, M. Piller was the Security of Exploration when he authorized the annexation of the Minos Korva system, due to its proximity to Cardassian territory, into Federation territory. The secretary made a recommendation for the establishement of an extended range security perimeter for this system; however, the installation of this perimeter was deferred.
