Although Sabourin would only play in 74 NHL games, he was on the 1988–89 Flames team that won the Stanley Cup. However, he only played 6 regular season games, and 1 playoff game so he did not qualify to be on the Stanley Cup. He was traded to the Washington Capitals in 1991 and played a couple of seasons for them before settling in the minor pros. After his last appearance in the NHL, he would play for several seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals. His final year of playing professionally was the 1998–99 season with the Orlando Solar Bears.
