The Hellbender (Cryptobranchus pollutus) is a large, aquatic creature that metamorphosed from their earlier cousins Cryptobranchus alleghaniensis, which was a tiny creature that lived in the Mississippi and Ohio riverbeds. With the Awakening, the pollutants that were endangering the creatures before now are the reason that they thrive.
