The 1982 Warner W. Hodgdon American 500 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event that occured at Rockingham on October 31, 1982. Darrell Waltrip won the race, his 12th and final of the year, but was not able to pull away from second-place finished Bobby Allison in the points race, with a 37-point lead still between them.
