He was a member of the coven run by the Master from the cavern beneath the church. When the Master suspected Olive Hawthorne of snooping around, he had Garvin lock her up in a trunk. She was freed by Sergeant Benton from UNIT, but Garvin, armed with a shotgun, captured them both and forced them to go outside, where they encountered the gigantic Azal. A terrified Garvin reflexively shot at the dæmon, but was destroyed by Azal's power.
