Lieutenant Pua-B170, born Pua Maulalo, was one of 418 candidates recruited for the SPARTAN-III program in 2539, and one of 300 SPARTANs produced by the program. A SPARTAN-III commando of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command, he was present during the Fall of Reach, attached to Echo Team and assigned with evacuating civilians after the raid on New Alexandria.
