In 1961, with his successor Liu Shaoqui, Mao declared that the Soviet Leadership was a "Revisionist Traitor Group", beginning a sense of hostility between the Soviet Union and China. In 1962, to Soviet Premier Vyacheslav Molotov's distate, China declared war on India. The Soviet Union sent arms shipments to India to stop the Chinese, but China won.
