The Encounter at Videtu took place during the second year of the Four Years War. A device, widely believed to have originated from the time of the Vegan Tyranny, was discovered buried on the planet Videtu by the native Deltan population. The device, known as The Artifact, was inadvertently activated by Klingon forces when they attempted to destroy it from orbit. It was soon revealed that the device was, in fact, a planetary defense platform. It subsequently destroyed the two Klingon Frigates. The actions of Captain Jeanne Curry of the starship USS Hawking, with the assistance of Doctor Anna Wade, managed to disable the device before it was able to destroy the Hawking.
