Esther Maris is a science journalist for the San Diego Union Tribune. After the earthquake that sank half of the city, she contacted Aquaman to help survivors and then fell in love with him. While Aquaman helps the survivors, a mysterious company called Progene Tech took the responsibility to help the city, but Esther believed that the company was responsible for the Holocaust and began investigating it.
