Balanodons are shelled creatures indigenous to Balan. They are found within the planet's lakes, but have an ability to levitate due to unknown propulsion. They also have an ability to survive the vacuum of space. Balanodons apparently have a version of a hive mind, in which the organisms react to threats to their society as a whole, or as one organism.
