Originally discovered by Christopher Columbus, the Lesser Antilles were at first claimed by the Spanish, however after 1634 they became a part of the growing Dutch empire. For the next several centuries the Antilles would remain a part of the Dutch empire until they were made constituent nations of the Netherlands. They remained within the Dutch realm until the start of the Great War in 2077.
