An anti-kilo was a means of measuring the amount of antimatter in reserve. While trapped inside a cosmic cloud in 2269 and forced to tap into reserves to maintain the USS Enterprise's deflector shields, Montgomery Scott noted that the amount of reserve antimatter was falling fast and that if a certain indicator went below two anti-kilos then the engines wouldn't regenerate.
