Van Dine's Commandments(ヴァン・ダイン二十則Vu~an Dain ni Jussoku) is alluded to several times in the question arcs along with Knox's Decalogue. It was used by Willard H. Wright in some parts of Requiem of the Golden Witch and Twilight of the Golden Witch. Van Dine's Commandements was originally an article named "Twenty Rules for Writing Detective Stories" written by S.S. Van Dine in 1928 for The American Magazine. It has been frequently reprinted and compared to "Knox's (Ten) Commandments" by Ronald Knox. In Umineko no Naku Koro ni it is used by the SSVD during heresy trials, but in the entire story, it was exclusively used by Willard.
