As lightsaber technology developed and they became usable in combat, the Jedi began experimentation to create a fighting form known as Shii-Cho. The style that would later become known as Skek and was used as a basic component of Shii-Cho movements before its development into a full-fledged form of combat by Vin, which utilized lunges and stabs. Skek was intended to bypass ones defensive measures, including armor and shields, and was developed by Jedi Master Vin Garth out of necessity prior to the Clone Wars when faced with criminals hiding behind shields. Vin had to adjust the angle of his strikes in order to bypass the shields but later combined offensive marches with a stabbing maneuver to punch through the shield with his lightsaber, hitting the target behind.
