After the establishment of the Separatist Reborn in 200 ABY, Council member Jervis Dooku, a grand descendent of Count Dooku who ruled the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, became the first Lord of the Separatist Reborn in 215 ABY after he defeated his twin brother Jarik. After taking the title, Jervis addressed the Council that one his reign ends, he would pass the title to a member of the Council who is much powerful than the rest.
