Special versions of the theme song, with slightly altered lyrics, were featured in the episodes "Christmas Who?", "What Ever Happened to SpongeBob?", and "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!", while the hour-length special "Truth or Square" opened with a stop-motion version of the opening. Curiously, though, when the show switched to having all episodes produced in widescreen in the ninth season, the opening sequence remained unchanged.
