The RX40 features a plywood maple body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret maple fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include a synchronized tremolo bridge and Ibanez Powersound pickups in an HSS configuration. The RX60 is a very similar model with a tortoise shell pickguard. This RX40 was replaced for 1996 with a substantially different version.
