Yaese (八重瀬町 Yaese-cho?) is a small town located in the south of the main island of Okinawa Prefecture. It was formed at the beginning of 2006 by a merger between the town of Kochinda (東風平町 Kochinda-cho?) and the village of Gushikami (具志頭村 Gushikami-son?). Although Yaese is quite rural, it borders several larger towns (notably Haebaru and Itoman) and is only about a 30-minute drive from central Naha.
