Beta Pavonis IV was a class M planet located in the space of the galaxy's Beta Quadrant, the fourth planet in the Beta Pavonis star system and home to an indigenous civilization. The planet was first surveyed by the Federation in 2241, and immediately placed under interdict status 5b/r, forbidding contact for at least two hundred years, due to the intense religious warfare between the natives. During the first use of the inversion drive aboard the USS Enterprise in 2275, Spock had a vision of life on the planet, though he had never been there. (TOS novel: The Wounded Sky)
