Melanippe was an immortal nymph who fell in love with the mortal king, Hippotes. The two had one child, Aeolus. Because Aeolus was also immortal, he was given the task of Keeper of the Winds. Melanippe was born with the gift of prophecy. But one day she revealed the secrets of the gods and she had to be punished. Zeus transformed her into a horse and put her in the sky as the constellation Pegasus. Her father, Kheiron was either Saggitarius or Centaurus.
