The 1987 Winston Open was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) All-Star preliminary event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 17, 1987. Buddy Baker proved that despite his age he still had it, leading the most laps and holding off Lake Speed by .36 seconds for the victory. Baker transferred to The Winston, but crashed in that race.
