The Cocytus is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII-2. It is only encountered in the late parts of Academia -400 AF- and in order to see them again, the gate must be closed. They are flying Cie'th, meaning they have high levels of agility. They are usually encountered with a group of other, low-ranking winged Cie'th and so should be prioritized. Their powerful Lightning-based spell Levinbolt also deals heavy damage, and they are able to inflict Imperil to amplify the damage output.
