As a security measure, Jellico appointed Commander Data as his First Officer. Jellico was very concerned about the way his officers dressed, so he ordered Data to wear a red shirt and stand in front of him at all times. Data, an officer whose loyalty does not bear close inspection, was particularly sad to see Jellico return command to Picard.
