A Far Off Place is a Disney, Amblin Entertainment and Touchwood Pacific Partners film from 1993, starring Reese Witherspoon, Ethan Embry, Jack Thompson, and Maximilian Schell. The filming locations were in Namibia and Zimbabwe. It is based on Laurens van der Post's works, A Far-Off Place (1974) and its prequel A Story Like the Wind (1972).
