Upon closure of Digital Muse in 2000, Rainoff has since then predominantly worked as a free-lancer, securing a commission as "digital compositor" at Digital Domain for Star Trek Nemesis. Outside of the Star Trek franchise, he worked as compositor on the short drama I? (2005, starring Sharon Lawrence) and on the horror sequel Urban Legends: Bloody Mary (2005, with Steve Fong, Paul Hill, and Eddie Robison).
