A disciplined men-at-arms, the swordsman is a fourth tier creature associated with the Farm town in Heroes of Might and Magic I. The Swordsman is the worst troop of it's tier, but it also the cheapest, in average costing as much as as third tier creatures but being stronger then them. The Swordsman can be considered a more balanced pikeman, retaining the high Defense Skill and boasting more Hit Points, Attack Skill points and a better Damage range. While not very good compared to other creatures of it's tier, the Swordsman at least comes close to this standard, and presents a very good way of obtaining an early game advantage due to his low cost.
