Timothy Mika was born in Philadelphia to a Brunanter couple of Serbian origin. His great-grandparents came to Brunant in 1945 when World War II ended. His grandfather, Timothy Mika, who was born in Dortmund was a top striker for FC Willemstad from 1964 to 1971. Young Timothy showed exceptional goalkeeping talent and was scouted out by such teams as Philadelphia Union and D.C. United, but did not sign. FC Caltrava, who had also made several offers, finally managed to sign him in 2005 for US$ 1,000,000 to play for it's youth squad. Mika married Lovian politician Clara Abrahams.
