Thwurl was a Corporal serving in the Long Patrol under Asheye. He got into a fight with Mad Maudie Mugsberry Thropple because the soup that the latter had been making was spiked with hotroot pepper. Thwurl was punched in the nose by Maudie, who was a proficient boxer. The corporal immediately reported the incident to Asheye, giving the Badger Lord his idea of sending Maudie on a quest to get her out of the way. Thwurl is not a significant character, little else is known about him.
