Michael the Archangel was considered by Christians to be the chief of God's warriors. In the Bible, Michael cast Satan out of heaven. In 1746, Seamus MacIntyre invoked Michael in a prayer while escaping from English forces on horseback with the time-lost Montgomery Scott.
