Beside his acting part in Star Trek, his only other known acting work was a featured role in the 1985 comedy School Spirit. The film also featured Star Trek co-star Biff Yeager. Since 1995, Dayton, son of the late actor and director Danny Dayton, has been working as foley editor and sound mixer in the entertainment industry. In 1997 he received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries or a Special for his work on the television war drama Crazy Horse. He shared this nominationw ith Star Trek: Starfleet Academy foley editor Gregg Barbanell.
