Tight regulation (TR) refers to the goal of keeping your pet’s blood glucose within non-diabetic levels, also called euglycemia, 100% of the time. For cats, euglycemia ranges from 60-130 mg/dL, or 3.3 to 7.2 mmol/mL. Tight regulation was studied in humans in a famous 10-year study called the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) that compared the incidence of diabetic complications between tightly regulated and traditionally regulated diabetics.
