"Wavy chitlin' gravy!" (sometimes just "Wavy chitlins!" or "Wavy gravy!") is the characteristic catchphrase of Scoots on Cattanooga Cats to express disbelief, amazement or astonishment. The term was loosely inspired by chitterlings (sometimes called "chitlings" or "chitlins"), which are basically hog intestines eaten in the American South as a delicacy, and by tie-dye T-shirt artist "Wavy Gravy," whose creations were in vogue in the late 1960's/early 1970's with the hippie culture (later inspiring a Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavour).
