In the series, Automatic Writing uses the same kanji with Index's John's Pen Mode, but is to be read differently. The kanji for John's Pen Mode, should be translated as Automatic Secretary, rather than Automatic Writing, as to fit with the fact that Index's mind becomes "hijacked."
