Barbara Atkinson (born 8th January 1926 in Manchester) appeared in Coronation Street in July 1968 as a Woman customer. It was one of several roles in a career that lasted just some fifty years and began at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre with a part in Toad of Toad Hall. On the stage, she played in rep in Swindon, Oxford and Nottingham and made her West End debut in 1955 at the Garrick Theatre. For television, she played roles in Dr. Finlay’s Casebook, Bergerac, The Wednesday Play, Z Cars, Upstairs Downstairs, Within These Walls and Brideshead Revisited.
