Katherine Lawrence was born into a family of privilege on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. When she was attending college her mother was murdered by a professional hit man. Her father later died from "heart break". While dealing with the police she met a cop named Darren Criss. He was the reason she later became a police officer. Detective Criss and Katherine had a brief love tryst but ended it after they found they were better friends then lovers.
