In 1879 PD, the vessel was on convoy duty in the Silesian Confederacy under the command of Lieutenant Commander Christopher Magoun. In the Hillman System, the convoy was ambushed by a pair of pirate light cruisers. When they approached, Magoun had his ship pitch up, exposing the ventral wedge, just prior to missile impact. He then had Shrike roll to bring her broadside into arc at just over 100,000 kilometers. The second pirate cruiser accelerated, but was eventually overtaken by the Manticoran warship, which gave it a beam shot causing a reactor failure.
