Polcovich was a 23rd century Human female. By the late 2250s, Polcovich was serving as a sciences division lieutenant in Starfleet, assigned to the USS Constitution. In 2257, Polcovich was called upon to serve as science officer following the death of Darick Lynch, who had previously been her superior officer. She later attended a briefing held by Lieutenant James T. Kirk, to discuss the increased threat of the N'shaii satellites and their controlling mothership in orbit of Sordinia IV. At the conclusion of the briefing, Kirk assigned Polcovich to the boarding party that he was sending over to the mothership in order to disable its link with the satellites.
