South Dumfries Township was located in the northeastern portion of Brant County, centred around the community of St. George. The fire department was known as the St. George Fire Area in the 1960s. In 1999, all of the municipalities of Brant County amalgamated to form a new municipality and the SDFD became part of the Brant County Fire Department.
